SESSION #1: Photo Basics / Scavenger Hunt
We’ll start off by going over some of the basics of photography and see what everyone’s comfort level is with shooting. We’ll discuss what the three themes will be throughout the week. And we’ll conclude the day by going on a photo scavenger hunt to get their creative juices flowing!
SESSION #2: Theme - Family
Today’s theme is all about family. What that means to the kids, and what they can capture that reminds them of family or represents familial units (their own or in general). We’ll spend more of the course in the neighborhoods nearby using their cameras to capture their family-inspired shots.
SESSION #3: Theme - Community
The next theme is community! We’ll start off by having the kids discuss what this means to them. We’ll again go to nearby areas where they’ll be able to use their imagination and produce some images truly unique to them.
SESSION #4: Theme - Who You Are
The last theme of the week is who the kids are. It’s about self-identification and being aware of what makes them special. We’ll practice taking images that represent what they think about themselves and maybe throw in a selfie or two.
SESSION #5: Final Review and Recap
The last session will be a review of what they learned throughout the week and picking out their favorite images. We’ll discuss why those images mean the most to them and how they can continue to build their creativity through exercises.
